In February 2026, SmartCOP partnered with Hood River County Sheriff’s Office, Hood River Police Department, and their supported Fire Departments to deploy SmartCAD and SmartMCT. The SmartCOP team conducted on-site training on February 24-25, 2026. They equipped dispatchers and field personnel with reliable public safety technology.
This implementation is a partnership with EIS. SmartCAD integrates directly into the existing EIS RMS environment, giving Hood River agencies a unified system from dispatch to the field.
Why does this matter for Hood River County first responders?
Hood River County presents unique challenges for public safety. Elevation in the county ranges from 60 feet above sea level at Cascade Locks to 11,235 feet at the summit of Mount Hood, Oregon’s highest point. The county lies in a transition zone in the Columbia River Gorge between the temperate rain forest of the Cascade Range and the dry desert of eastern Oregon.
Sixty percent of the county, over 209,000 acres, is federal land managed by the Mount Hood National Forest. First responders in this region need technology that works in remote terrain. It also needs to support multi-agency coordination across law enforcement and fire services.
With SmartCAD, dispatchers now have a powerful, purpose-built system designed for public safety. With SmartMCT, officers and deputies in the field have real-time access to critical information. This helps them stay connected and focused on their community.
Where does SmartCOP serve agencies outside the Southeast?
Hood River County joins a growing network of SmartCOP agencies across the Western United States, including:
- Montana Highway Patrol (statewide)
- Colorado Parks and Wildlife (statewide)
- Park County Sheriff’s Office, Montana
- Lane County Sheriff’s Office, Oregon
- Wahkiakum County Sheriff’s Office, Washington
From the Pacific Northwest to the Rocky Mountains, SmartCOP supports agencies that face diverse terrain, remote coverage areas, and the need for dependable technology.
What products are Hood River County using?
Hood River County is currently live with:
- SmartCAD: A dispatch-focused computer-aided dispatch system built for law enforcement, fire, and EMS.
- SmartMCT: Mobile client technology that keeps field personnel connected to dispatch and critical data.
These products are designed to work together. They are reducing duplicate data entry and ensuring information flows from the dispatch center to the patrol car.
What’s next?
Implementations like this are what the SmartCOP team lives for. Working side-by-side with agencies during training and go-live, and seeing their system come together, is the best part of the job.
Welcome aboard, Hood River County. We’re proud to support the work you do every day.
