GACP Winter Conference

GACP

SmartCOP’s Regional Sales Representative John Jolin had the pleasure of attending the GACP (Georgia Association of Chiefs) Winter conference. It took place at the Jekyll Island Convention Center on January 12th and 13th . The GACP offers up to 14 hours of valuable Executive Level Training Credit for law enforcement executives and vendors. This provided a wonderful opportunity to display what SmartCOP offers in the latest police equipment, services and technology.

As a vendor, the GACP presented us the opportunity to strengthen our relationship with current clients and prospects. With over 350 law enforcement executives in attendance, this also gave us the ability to meet with new law enforcement executives to discuss with them on how SmartCOP can enhance and streamline their day-to-day activities. SmartCOP offers a modern fully integrated solution to their CAD, RMS and Mobile software needs. Having this opportunity to network to a mass of prospects and customers allows representatives to connect further. It also presented opportunities to see where we can improve, as we always strive to provide the best software possible. SmartCOP is excited for future conferences in 2021, collaborating with partners, and fulfilling customers needs with our fully integrated solutions. Be sure to keep up-to-date with our 2021 conference calendar, and what our representatives say in their synopsis!

Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation (FWC) Officer Rescued

On January 2nd, an officer with Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation (FWC) was patrolling near River Ranch Hunt Camp, after responding to reports of poachers in the area. While patrolling, the FWC officer noticed a light on the River Ranch Hunt Camp property. Shortly after, he heard a gunshot. He approached the three suspects, confiscated their shotguns and detained them.  According to Sheriff Grady Judd, the suspects jumped the FWC officer before running him over with an ATV.

Deputies with the Polk County Sheriff’s Office responded to calls for help from the injured FWC officer.  They were able to use GPS location from the FWC mobile computer to locate the officer (SmartMOBILE). This helped determine the closest deputies, and respond to render assistance.  The officer was transported to the hospital for injuries and has since been released.

Nearly 100 law enforcement officers from FWC and several sheriff’s offices from the surrounding areas held a perimeter throughout the night. They conducted searches on the ground and by air for the suspects.  During their search, law enforcement came across a submerged ATV and a cellphone. Officials tracked down the owner of the cell phone Sunday morning. Two men were arrested on attempted murder charges, and the third suspect is in custody after being apprehended in south Florida.

SmartCOP is proud to provide the mobile software that made it possible for law enforcement find and assist this FWC officer!
